Call for city cases for UBC seminar: "Digitalization from an urban perspective"

The Smart and Prospering Cities Commission will be hosting a seminar during this year’s Fehmarnbelt Days in Malmö on 29 May 2018 together with Baltic Development Forum. The organizers call for cities who are interested in contributing to the central discussion of urban digitalization and the impact of city collaboration.

The seminar “Digitalization from an urban perspective – Potentials through City Collaboration and Regionalization” is separated into two parts:

  • Part 1 (13.30 to 15.00): After a short presentation of the “Top of the Digital Region” report by co-author Joakim Wernberg, the Cities of Malmö and Hamburg (and hopefully one of you!) will be presenting their experiences with digitalization – also in the context of their own engagement in city networks and city cooperation in general.
  • Part 2 (15.00 to 17.00): Referring to central key questions for the 2nd part of the seminar the audience will attend  a panel discussion with representatives of the UBC Smart and Prospering Cities Commission and UBC Youthful Cities Commission and the city representatives of Malmö and Hamburg. The panel discussion will be followed by an interactive discussion with the audience and the development of recommendations for action.

As the seminar is based on a non-technical approach the focus should be on policies, approaches and dialogue with citizens, business etc. rather than technology and “smart solutions”.
