The exhibition features the latest works from well-known visual artist Hannu Väisänen, including paintings, photography, videos and installations. The centrepiece is an installation that fills the museum’s main sculpture hall.
Contemporary art by the river
The Wäinö Aaltonen Museum of Art (WAM) is the Turku City Art Museum named after the famous Turku born sculptor, Wäinö Aaltonen (1894–1966). For nearly 50 years this modernist white museum building has been reflected in the Aurajoki river, becoming part of the cultural landscape on the east bank.
The middle-aged museum isn’t content to just rest on its laurels, but is presenting new and experimental art projects. In addition to changing exhibitions, the programme includes various cultural events, lectures, concerts and theme days for families. The museum is also home to a museum shop and the pleasant Café Wäinö.
