The key goal of the Kristiansand UBC Strategy for years 2009–2015 and its implementation was to ensure that UBC, as the leading city network in the Baltic Sea Region, meets the new requirements in the emerging cooperative structure of the Baltic Sea Region, with the European Union Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) emerging as the key framework for cooperation.
UBC wanted to ensure its relevance and operative capacity and continue to create added value for its member Cities.
The 7th Strategy Forum of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region is held in Stockholm on 8–9 November 2016. UBC co-organises two seminars in the Strategy Forum: “Nothing about us without us – youth's contribution to the Baltic Sea Region Vision 2030” and “Cities and Regions: Drivers or Bystanders in the Baltic Sea cooperation”.

Art School of Jūrmala invite children and youth at the age of 4-25 years to take part in the XVI International Visual Arts Competition "I live by the sea".
The theme of the competition this year is "The Sea of Colours".
