It has already been four years since the launch of UBC-CDP cooperation, and we have seen more than 25 of our member cities consistently reporting their environmental data demonstrating actions in climate change adaptation and mitigation in our region.
Each year CDP scores reporting cities and provides detailed feedback to them on how to improve year-on-year. Scoring cities’ responses provide feedback to the cities on the performance and completeness of their response. Scores are not disclosed publicly except for those who receive highest – A score. In 2019 six UBC cities were granted the A score and were praised for their excellence in climate adaptation. Find more information on scoring methodology via: Cities 2020 Scoring methodology.
This year’s disclosure took part since the middle of April and ended on August 26th. We would like to express our gratitude to the cities, that despite the Covid-19 crisis, we were able to observe high levels of participation from our member-cities.
We would like to remind that questionnaire is not mandatory to be filled in completely and all the cities will be able to supplement their data once they obtain more information in the next disclosure cycles. Hence, we encourage cities to keep up the good work and join the disclosure in the next disclosure cycles.
Highlighting actions from our member cities
UBC publishes every year a UBC-CDP cooperation report based on the data member cities disclose to CDP.
The 2019 cooperation report “UBC cities’ adaptation actions to extreme weather events” highlights nature-based solutions as well as adaptation planning activities from the cities. These so-called “blue-green solutions” are gaining momentum and are becoming more and more important in the face of the changing climate. In this report we have included good examples and comments from our member cities and hopefully, these concrete examples inspire others and help make our region more resilient to different kinds of climate hazards.

About UBC – CDP cooperation
In the XIV UBC General Conference on 24–27 October 2017 in Växjö, Sweden, a joint report by UBC and CDP on Climate Leadership from Baltic Sea Region Cities was launched.
CDP, formerly Carbon Disclosure Project, is an international, not-for-profit organisation providing a global system for companies, cities, states and regions to measure, disclose, manage and share vital information on their environmental performance. Over the past 17 years CDP has created a system that has resulted in unparalleled engagement on environmental issues worldwide. CDP now holds the most comprehensive collection globally of primary environmental data and puts these insights at the heart of strategic business, investment and policy decisions.
