Parallel to UBC General Conference to be held in Palanga this year, young people from UBC member cities from Denmark, Finland, Latvia and Lithuania will come together for a Youth Conference on 22^nd – 26^th October.

The Youth Conference is organised under the umbrella of an Erasmus+ youth mobility project “YOUTHful Baltic” with an overall aim to create space for young people from the Baltic Sea Region to discuss challenges their home cities and the region are facing and propose solutions to them from a youth perspective. Topic wise, Youth Conference will be in line with the agenda of UBC General Conference, which this year is given the name “Baltic Sea cities supporting Ukraine”.

Thanks to the initiative of the city of Palanga, young people from Ukraine will join the conference, too. Therefore, there will be an opportunity for both – quality discussion on problems the region is facing in the context of climate change and war in Ukraine, as well as identification of initiatives and actions young people could undertake themselves to make their home cities more resilient and inclusive, and support their peers.

During the 5 days of the programme young people will:

• experience activities aiming at getting to know each other and team building;
• explore how UBC works and what are the opportunities for youth participation;
• learn about youth work practices of Palanga and Klaipeda and meet local young people;
• discuss energy and climate problems of the region;
• look into the problems of Ukrainian youth and think about how young people in the UBC member cities can support their peers;
• join UBC General Conference, take part in its workshops and plenary sessions to share young people’s opinions on the agenda issues;
• create audio-visual content for the social media to share the results of the conference and promote developed initiatives.
