Inauguration of the 2024/2025 artistic season

2024-09-27

Polish Philharmonic Sinfonia Baltica Wojciech Kilar invites you to the ceremonial “Inauguration of the 2024/2025 artistic season”. We will start the new season with works by some of the greatest composers associated with the Romantic era: Ludwig van Beethoven and Camille Saint Saëns. Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92 by Ludwig van Beethoven, although not as recognizable as Symphonies No. 5 and 9, from the perspective of the construction of a great symphonic form, it is an almost masterpiece. The characteristic dotted rhythm that appears in the first part of the piece is its primary form and clearly shapes the remaining parts – both the fast and slow ones. Additionally, the composer expanded the composition of the orchestra, which strengthened its sound and enriched its colors, becoming a pioneer in this field. In turn, Violin Concerto No. 3 in B minor, Op. 61 Camille by Saint Saëns is a virtuoso work of impressionistic subtlety and extraordinary melodic inventiveness, which remains an interpretation challenge for performers to this day. The piece owes its popularity to its cantilena themes and light texture. During the “Inauguration of the 2024/2025 artistic season”, the solo parts of the concert will be performed by the outstanding violinist Jakub Jakowicz – winner of many national and international competitions, and the Sinfonia Baltica Polish Philharmonic Orchestra . Wojciech Kilar will be conducted by our guest conductor Szymon Morus.
