CLASSIC GOES JAZZ
CLASSIC GOES JAZZ … is a concert that simply shows how classical music and jazz can complement each other. Each piece in the program presents a different approach to combining the two genres, creating a coherent but diverse whole.
The concert will begin with Franz Anton Hoffmeister’s Concerto in D major for Viola and Orchestra – a classic, elegant piece from the late 18th century that perfectly captures the beauty of traditional classical music. The harmony, structure and melodic nature of this piece will provide a perfect contrast to the more free-form, jazzy sounds that will appear later in the programme.
Next we will hear Leonard Bernstein’s Suite from “West Side Story” – an example of how jazz elements can permeate classical music. Bernstein, inspired by the rhythms and melodies of jazz, introduces to his music dynamics and emotions that make it exceptionally lively and full of energy.
The highlight of the evening will be Michał Zaborski’s Feeling Earth Suite . This piece combines classical roots with a modern, open approach to composition and improvisation. Zaborski uses jazz not only as a musical style, but as a way of thinking – free, expressive, based on emotions and improvisation. Thanks to this, his music takes on a unique character, in which the classical structure is enriched with the freshness and spontaneity of the jazz spirit.
