The International Forum “From Crisis Response to Resilient Communities: Ukrainian Experience for European Municipalities” will take place in the Municipality of Ropaži, Latvia, on 29 July 2026.
The Forum aims to provide an international platform for professional dialogue and the exchange of practical experience among municipalities from Ukraine and the Baltic Sea region on building resilient communities, strengthening crisis preparedness, ensuring the continuity of public services, advancing inter-municipal cooperation, and implementing modern approaches to local governance.
During the years of the full-scale war, Ukrainian municipalities have developed unique expertise in responding to complex crises while maintaining essential public services. This experience includes ensuring the continuity of local government operations, protecting critical infrastructure, strengthening civil preparedness, crisis communication, citizen engagement, veteran support, community recovery, and resilience building. These practical lessons can contribute significantly to the broader European discussion on municipal resilience and preparedness.
The Forum will bring together representatives of municipalities, local government associations, experts, practitioners, and development partners to exchange knowledge, discuss common challenges, and identify new opportunities for cooperation.
The working languages of the Forum will be English, Ukrainian, and Latvian, with interpretation provided.
