Call for stories to the Baltic Cities Bulletin Autumn 2025

Deadline for sending stories to the Bulletin is 30 September 2025.

Theme of the Bulletin: “Securing the Urban Pulse”

Since the Russian invasion on Ukraine our region is constantly exposed to the dangers of physical and cyber threats to the urban infrastructure and public safety. The UBC members present case studies, innovations in critical infrastructure design/construction, cybersecurity protocols, civil education and awareness building programmes and cross-border security cooperation.

This edition of the bulletin is dedicated to sharing the practices that our member cities create and will create in the near future. This is the driving force of building a comprehensive security network, that we need to share between the UBC members and other cities in Europe and the world.

Safeguarding energy, water and communication systems, defending against digital threats to public transport, education of citizens on hybrid threats and emergency protocols, strengthening regional networks for rapid response, designing cities to withstand both environmental and geopolitical shocks, etc. In these challenging times all of those topics need to be implemented in the Baltic Sea Cities. At the same time the cities should ensure to respect human and civil rights and wellbeing of their inhabitants.

Join the knowledge exchange with your peers by sending stories along the following themes and beyond:

  • Protecting Critical Urban Infrastructure: How cities can safeguard energy, water, and communication systems
  • Cybersecurity in Municipal Services: Defending against digital threats to public transport, utilities, and administration
  • Civil Preparedness and Public Awareness: Educating citizens on hybrid threats and emergency protocols
  • Cross-border Cooperation: Strengthening regional networks for rapid response and information sharing
  • Resilient Urban Planning: Designing cities to withstand both environmental and geopolitical shocks

Stories to City News are also very welcome.

We cordially encourage all interested cities and partners to contribute.
