President of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) and the Chair of the CoR Working Group on Ukraine has issued a call for urgent and concrete support to our Ukrainian partners in the current situation of emergency.
This communication follows a request for help from partners of the Association of Ukrainian Cities (AUC) and the deterioration of the situation in Ukraine’s energy sector, where repeated Russian strikes on critical energy infrastructure are forcing local and regional authorities under increasingly difficult conditions to maintain essential public services for citizens, including heating, electricity, water supply and healthcare in the midst of a harsh winter.
The attached joint call of the CoR’s President and WG UA Chair and the letter of AUC:
· outlines the current challenges faced by Ukrainian cities and regions.
· sets out the specific types of equipment most urgently required, such as generators, cogeneration units, energy storage solutions and other energy‑related material;
· provides practical avenues for assistance, whether through direct partnerships, coordination with AUC, or relevant national and EU‑level mechanisms.
