Committee of the Regions appeals for further support to Ukrainian communities

Following a particularly difficult winter in Ukraine marked by continued attacks on critical infrastructure, the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) has issued an appeal to its members and partners for further support to Ukrainian communities. The CoR thanks cities, regions and partners for the donations and initiatives already undertaken, while stressing the need to continue assistance to address ongoing disruptions to energy, water and heating services.

The letter from COR is accompanied by an updated non-paper, “Ukraine: Immediate Energy and Utilities Restoration and Repair Needs”, outlining priority areas for targeted support. It also recalls the main channels through which assistance can be provided, including national mechanisms, EU coordination tools and city to city and region to region partnerships.

The CoR further invites partners to share feedback on the support provided in order to strengthen coordination and highlight the role of local and regional authorities, notably in the context of preparations for the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026) in Gdańsk.
