Archipelago Opera The Archipelago Opera takes the viewer on a musical journey from the decadence of Berlin to the glow of Broadway. This Finnish premiere features music by Kurt Weill. Weill was born in Germany in 1900 to a religious Jewish family. After Hitler came to power in 1933, he had to flee Germany to France, and in 1935 to the United States. He was a prolific musical composer in his American years. From Berlin to Broadway, we follow in Weill’s footsteps, led by his most famous songs. Merja Larivaara and Kari-Pekka Toivonen are responsible for directing.
