During 20 years, fish festival “Palanga’s smelt” has became one of the largest winter festivals in Lithuania, which cherishes the fishing traditions of the seaside, culinary heritage, history and ethno-culture. During the festivities, you can take part in snipe fishing competitions, folk craftsmen, artists, culinary heritage fair, fish grill championships, anchorage competitions, snipe eating competitions. Fishing tunes are played on the city stage for three days. The restaurants and cafés offer a variety of fish dishes (mostly with the small fish from the Baltic sea- melt) during the holidays.
