In spring EMMA will see a bunch of ceramic animal figures. The playful setting designed by contemporary artist Lotta Mattila (b. 1986) features animals created by pottery artist Michael Schilkin (1900-1962). Also known for his animal themes, Mattila is participating in the exhibition with his own new sculptures made for this exhibition. Russian-born Schilkin worked in Finland at the Arabia Art Department from 1935 to 1962, at the same time as Rut Bryk. The exhibition, based mainly on the collector Kyösti Kakkonen, is on display at the Bryk & Wirkkala viewing warehouse.
