Seed funding for cooperation projects in the BSR

The Swedish Institute provides funding for joint projects in which Swedish organisations meet transnational challenges together with organisations from the Baltic Sea Region countries and the countries of the Eastern Partnership.

The project activities that the Swedish Institute supports via ‘seed funding’ must be clearly linked to one or more of the challenges identified in the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region.

Projects to be funded

The project should help to create conditions for long-term, sustainable relations in the Baltic Sea Region.
The Swedish Institute can provide funding to projects that for instance involve:

  • Undertaking a feasibility study in order to develop a larger Baltic Sea Region project linked to the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region.
  • Establishing new networks
  • Expanding and strengthening existing networks
  • Preparing an application for EU financing from one of the various EU programmes.
  • Initiating or furthering cooperation between the EU and non-EU countries in the Baltic Sea Region and Eastern Partnership.

The main applicant must be a Swedish organisation cooperating with organisations from at least two other countries in the Baltic Sea Region.
A project can apply for a maximum of  SEK 500,000 per project. Ten per cent of project costs must be self-financed.

The application round opens during November and closes on 13 February 2018.
