Time to nominate candidates for the Baltic Sea Award 2019

It is time to nominate candidates for the Baltic Sea award 2019.

The organisers seek the person who or organization which have done meaningful and outstanding achievements for the Baltic Sea environment. The candidates can be active in the fields of science, culture, or in environmental movements. Authorities or decision-makers in the business world or public administration can also be nominated.

Östersjöfonden celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2019. In honor of the jubilee, the Foundation will award its winners with 100,000 euros.
The nominations shall be submitted before November 17th 2018. The laureates receive their prizes at a solemn ceremony held in Mariehamn on May 10th 2019. More information about the nomination can be found on the web page and the nomination brochure.

Östersjöfonden, based on the Åland Islands, have for almost 30 years rewarded persons and institutions who have acted as forerunners in the protection of the Baltic Sea. All together more than 825,000 euros have been given out to more than 90 prizewinners from all around the Baltic Sea region. The award winner for this year was the Mana Jūra campaign for its work to draw attention to marine litter and engage the public in Latvia on this issue.
