The UBC is excited to welcome new member cities of Haapsalu, Hamburg, Rokiškis, Sejny and Valmiera to the Union starting from 2021.

– The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg shares the ambitions of the UBC to strengthen the relations between its member cities focusing on best practices to cope with urban challenges. Cities play an important role in developing smart and sustainable solutions in the fields of mobility and urban development, fighting climate change and dealing with the economic and social effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, states Almut Möller, State Secretary of Hamburg.

– Rokiškis is a vibrant and youthful city, which is proud to have preserved cultural heritage of several generations and to share it with dear guests. We hope that networking with other member cities will open door to gain valuable experience, provide technical consulting, joint coordination, training, information services to build capacity, share knowledge in professional development, projects and collaboration“, says Ramūnas Godeliauskas, Mayor of Rokiškis District Municipality.

– As a Mayor of beautiful thriving city I intend to bring no less than the best practices to our citizens, businesses and organisations, therefore I see this membership as tool to have and provide a strong support base for various brilliant ideas and development opportunities, says Jānis Baiks, Mayor of Vamiera city.
