Author’s meeting with Ewa Danela Burdon in Elbląg, author of the book “From Here and There”
The Department of Culture of the Elbląg City Hall cordially invites you to a special author meeting with Ewa Danela Burdon, a native of Elbląg and author of the book “From Here and There.” “From Here and There” by Ewa Danela Burdon is a moving autobiographical story about life between worlds, about a migrant who spent years building her identity at the intersection of two cultures – Polish and Norwegian.
It is a book full of authentic emotion, reflection, and the courage to discover herself. The book tells the story of the author – a true Elbląg native – who decided to leave communist-era Poland in the 1980s. She was driven by a longing for freedom and the conviction that she couldn’t navigate a reality fraught with limitations and the control of imposed conventions. The reader doesn’t meet a fictional heroine, but a real young woman – Ewa – who found the courage to leave everything behind and – in fact, in an era before global information, the internet, and other tools that make our lives easier today – venture into the unknown. From the reality of the Polish People’s Republic into the world of capitalism and democracy; into different rules, orders, and social habits.
