Charity ultra race RIGA-VALMIERA 107km
The Rīga-Valmiera race connects the capital of Latvia with the largest city of Vidzeme (Valmiera), which is proud of independent Latvia’s first Summer Olympic Games medalist Jānis Daliņš (silver 50km, Los Angeles 1932). Latvia’s most emotionally and adventure-filled ultramarathon connects several decades.
Singing of the national anthem in a choir at the Freedom Monument and starting at midnight under the three stars of Milda in the very center of Riga. Endless care by volunteers for each runner at nine checkpoints. Staying at home following events online. The struggle of leaders and the existential questions of each participant. Highway, night, truck, fatigue and the lure of Simon. 107 kilometers is a run to the church of St. Simon with elements of walking.
