City Lab on Climate Budgeting workshop will take place on 1–2 September 2026 in Turku, Finland.

This hands-on workshop and clinic is designed for cities interested in strengthening their climate budgeting practices and applying practical tools for climate scenario planning. Participants will have the opportunity to explore and test the CADS (Climate Action Decision Support) Tool, an open solution that supports cities in calculating climate scenarios and informing decision-making processes.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

• exchange city experiences in climate budgeting,
• explore the open CADS (Climate Action Decision Support) Tool and real city use cases, and

• login and test the CADS Tool and learn with the instructors how to use it for your climate calculations

The event will also include site visits, networking dinner, and dedicated session for city peer exchange, with other Baltic Sea Region cities working on climate actions bringing administrations to climate neutrality.

FOR WHOM:
The main target audience of the workshop are city employees from local authorities in the Baltic Sea Region. We also welcome other stakeholders working with climate budgeting in cities as well as city representatives beyond our region.

Important information

• Participation is open to all interested cities; however, the number of places is limited. Early registration is strongly recommended.

• The discussion will focus largely on the tool, so we especially encourage to join those cities that have already participated in at least one of the previous training modules of the course –all participants are invited to (re-)watch them when preparing for the meeting.

This is the module 5 of the Climate Budgeting Training Course, which UBC Sustainable Cities Commission organises together with the Climate-4-CAST project that assists local public authorities in integrating climate actions into urban governance processes in their efforts to reach climate neutrality.
