Anna has lived an adventurous and liberal life in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century and is now returning to her homely and sleepy Pärnu. While Anna is infected with a revolutionary bug abroad and wants to devote herself to improving the world, her former friends living in Pärnu seem like a model of the petty bourgeoisie, whose days are filled with just lounging, sleeping, sitting in a café and caring for children.
