When listing Ireland’s most significant composers, one name stands out above all others. John Field (1782-1839) developed the nocturne (nighttime composition, Italian: notte) as a genre, as we understand it today.

Ten of the eighteen nocturnes will be performed at the concert. Robert Tobin and Jonne Grans have been performing their arrangement for flute and guitar regularly since 2019.
