Cumbia is not only rhythm, dance and music, it is one of the most representative manifestations of Colombian culture. Cumbia was born in the Caribbean Sea region, where the largest melting pot of races was created: it was inhabited by Indian tribes, African slaves came here and it was full of newcomers from Spain. In an unprecedented way, this unique musical genre combines Spanish, Indian and African influences. The rhythmic beats of drums, sensual and flirtatious movements of the hips come from Africa, the Europeans added their characteristic costumes, and the local Indians brought the delicate sound of the flute and gaita. The most representative melodies of Colombian folklore will be performed during the concert!
