Rauma-Repola’s maritime expertise was world-class in the 1970s and 2000s. The giant oil rigs built at the Mäntyluoto plant ended up on the world’s seas, and Finnish engineering skills combined with practical shipbuilding work led the builders of Pori to the front line of international marine technology.

The new exhibition at the Rosenlew Museum highlights the people in whose hands these huge structures were created – the welders, designers and engineers in whose hands the steel bent and the design paper was consumed. Scale models, photographs, videos and recent interview data open up the life of the shipyard community and its significance for the Finnish industry and its identity.
