Awarded the 2025 Ethno of the Year trophy at the Emma Gala, the Lapland-Balkan orchestra Jaakko Laitinen & Väärä Raha returns to raise the atmosphere of the Vanha Navetta Musaa & Safkaa evening through the roof. Known as an ecstatic live band, the group’s music is a unique mix of fiery Balkan rhythms and the nostalgia of Finland’s schlager golden age. Over the years their musical spice rack has gathered influences from Georgia, Greece, Turkey and the Middle East. The lyrics move in romantic, at times downright esoteric spheres, and before long you’ll be sitting in a taxi in the night of Peräpohjola on a dark bottle-fetching run.
