In early February 1968, Jethro Tull first appeared under that name at the famous Marquee Club on Wardour Street, London. The band quickly built up a fan base there and in the many other small blues clubs and pubs across England, gaining broad media and public recognition at the Sunbury Jazz and Blues Festival in the summer of 1968, where they were the surprise hit of the event.
