UBC Learning Cities Commission meeting and conference will take place 7-9 October 2026 in Gdynia.

The three-day programme will bring together representatives of UBC cities, educators and professionals working in the field of education for a time of learning, exchange and inspiration.

The programme includes:

• 7 October | Learning Cities Commission Meeting | 10:00–13:00 

The first day will be dedicated to the meeting of the UBC Learning Cities Commission. 

The meeting will focus on the Commission’s upcoming activities, including the programme of future webinars, and will feature an introduction to the Polish education system. Following the meeting, participants will be invited to discover Gdynia’s unique architectural heritage during a guided walk through the city’s modernist centre and UNESCO heritage area, led by Joanna Leman.

• 8 October | Education Conference | 10:00–14:30

The second day will bring together everyone interested in STEM education and in preparing young people for a rapidly changing world.

Through inspiring talks and hands-on workshops, we will explore how cities and schools can make science, technology, engineering and mathematics engaging, accessible and relevant to young people.

The conference will be an opportunity to exchange experiences, discover good practices from across the Baltic Sea Region and discuss how local governments and educators can support curiosity, creativity and problem-solving – skills that reach far beyond the classroom.

• 9 October – Study Visits

On the final day participants will visit selected schools, youth spaces and community initiatives in Gdynia to see how education, participation and lifelong learning work in practice.

It will be a chance to meet local practitioners, exchange ideas and discover approaches that can inspire action in other UBC cities.
