In December 2023, it was 100 years since Maria Callas was born. No other soprano has been so significant in changing the art of opera from rigid theater to powerfully moving musical drama.
The talk will deal with the artist Callas rather than the private person. To help him, Walldov has lots of unique musical material that has never been officially available, from Callas as an eleven-year-old to a private recording made a few weeks before “la Divina’s” death in 1977.
