Memory Book – Darłowo 2026

Each of us has a story to tell; these, in turn, contribute to the history of the place we live in. Memories are often accompanied by photos that help us recall various details. In color and black-and-white photographs, we recognize faces and places: we see how our town, clothing style, and customs have changed. Photos remind us of what matters to us – people, events, emotions. It is from such ordinary and everyday, private and amateur photos, taken from home, that “Pamięciownik” is created.
What is “Pamięciownik”? “Pamięciownik” is a mobile pavilion that travels around Poland, where residents of individual towns independently create exhibitions based on their own photos and stories. But “Pamięciownik” is not just a pavilion and an exhibition; it also includes an accompanying program. This will also be the case in Darłowo. There will be thematic walks, meetings, workshops, and artistic activities. The idea behind “Pamięciownik” is to demonstrate that family, loved ones, and personal histories are important and form part of the larger history of a neighborhood, a given town, or a region. “Pamięciownik” is a project of the Center for Social Archiving planned for many years. In the 2026 edition, it will visit Darłowo, and let’s seize the opportunity that lies before us.
