Joanna “frota” Kurkowska will discuss how cultural intelligence, or (pop) culture, rules the world on September 24th at 6:00 PM. Together, we’ll examine how seemingly disparate phenomena connect to form a larger cultural puzzle and what they tell us about the world we live in. Memes, TV series, website design, theater, game characters, microtrends, internet fandoms, electronic payments, cryptocurrencies, queues before concerts, shopping as a dopamine-fueled pastime – all of these phenomena share one common denominator: entertainment. But to uncover all these connections, to see that this spiderweb makes sense, requires one of the most important skills of the 21st century: cultural intelligence. We’ll begin our meeting with the meaning and meaning of this term, which keeps analysts awake at night, and then delve deeper.
