The concert series Klassika, which was launched in 2024 by the Vanemuine Symphony Orchestra, will bring to the audience of Rakvere this spring a diverse programme of three works that are important in music history. Arvo Pärt’s “Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten” opens the evening with a meditative memorial piece, followed by the virtuoso forest horn concert No. 1 of Richard Strauss’s early work. The concert will end with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, the 1808 work of which is also known as the “Featful Symphony” due to its ominous fourth note opening motif.
