UBC member and associated cities are kindly invited to join the European Alliance of Cities and Regions for the Reconstruction of Ukraine.
The Alliance was created upon initiative of the European Committee of the Regions. It brings together EU and Ukrainian local and regional authorities as well as their associations and partners to support and coordinate joint efforts for the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine.
The Alliance advocates for a decentralised and sustainable recovery, promoting a reconstruction process based on dialogue and consultation with the local and regional authorities, as well synergies with Ukraine’s EU accession process.
It holds political meetings to offer strategic direction and issue recommendation for the Ukraine Recovery Conference. It also meets online at a working level for regular engagement among partners.
As a member of the Alliance cities can:
– join a dialogue platform of cities and regions from the EU and Ukraine sharing events, interesting projects, best practices and knowledge.
– get an opportunity to engage with the key partners and stakeholders, including the European Commission, Ukraine Donor Platform, International Financial Institutions, Council of Europe etc.
– be able to pitch ideas and projects, expand your networks and learn about opportunities for peer-to-peer exchanges and partnerships.
– be able to provide recommendations to the Ukraine Recovery Conference on the key needs and challenges of the local and regional authorities.
– be part of consultations on the relevant opinions of the European Committee of the Regions, such as the Enlargement Packages.
With over 85 members so far, including regions like Catalonia and Luhansk, cities like Cascais and Lviv, or organisations like UNDP and Energy Efficient Cities of Ukraine, the Alliance is open to cities and regions and to public- and private-sector partners wishing to support Ukraine on its path towards a decentralised and sustainable reconstruction.
There are no strings or obligations attached – just your commitment to the value of the Alliance and the cause of Ukrainian cities and regions and their European future.
