FLUXUS FESTIVAL is looking for professional artists and creators from all fields and invites you to submit your ideas for the festival programme! Selected artists will be invited to perform their own performances or artistic actions at the festival, thus sharing their ideas, approaches, perspectives and broadening the perception of what FLUXUS can look and sound like today.
The festival will take place on 21 09 2024 in Kaunas. The theme of this year’s FLUXUS Festival is the life stories of Jurgis Mačiūnas.
Are you a professional artist, do you admire FLUXUS and the work of Jurgis Mačiūnas, maybe you have already tried performance art, or maybe you have always wanted to try it? Maybe you have a team or an idea, or maybe just the germ of an idea, that you would like to develop and bring to life at FLUXUS this autumn?
We invite you.
To get your thoughts moving, spinning and churning, think:
- What is Fluxus to you? How could you express it vividly and what would help you do it?
- The theme of this year’s festival is the stories of the life of Jurgis Mačiūnas, so your performance or artistic action should/could reflect this theme.
- Your performance should take place in the evening (September), in an open field.
- What tools would you like to use in your performance or artistic action?
- What will be the relationship of the performance/artistic action/your action with the audience? A lot of people would be watching your performance, how could you involve them or let them try something out? What instructions could you give them?
- Since there will be a lot of people, maybe the performance could take place not only on the ground or on the stage, but maybe in the air, or in a tree, or…
- And…. If Jurgis Mačiūnas were alive today, what kind of event, performance or artistic action do you think he would propose for this occasion.

Criteria we will use to read your ideas:
- Fluxiness
- Originality of the idea and the theme of the festival
- Feasibility of the idea
- Competence of the creator
We take care of:
- travel expences;
- 2 nights’ accommodation and meals;
- necessary technical equipment;
- suggested daily programme and a sightseeing tour of Kaunas.
Of course, take your time, think a bit, call a colleague, talk and let that Fluxus idea come to you, because this year there is a very real possibility, a place and a time when you could make it happen.
The selected artists will be invited to further collaborate, develop their ideas and perform their performances and artistic actions at this year’s FLUXUS FESTIVAL.
