Request for examples of dual-use underground infrastructure

Jonava Municipality is currently planning a dual-use underground facility that would serve as a shooting range in normal conditions and as a shelter in case of an emergency.

Jonava is reaching out to UBC member cities to ask whether your city has developed similar infrastructure – especially underground facilities that are used for daily activities but can also serve as shelters or protective spaces during emergencies.

Jonava’s main interest is in shooting ranges, but the city would also be interested in other examples, such as sports centres or public buildings with underground spaces adapted for emergency sheltering.

If your city has such infrastructure, Jonava would greatly appreciate a short reply indicating this by 24 April. If there are particularly relevant examples, Jonava would also be interested in the possibility of arranging a study visit in June.
