PITCH International Conference: Shaping the Future of Integration Strategies for Foreign-Born Women in Europe took place in Brussels on 5 December 2024.
The event gathered policymakers, local authorities and other key stakeholders across Europe, where they could discuss innovative integration strategies to help foreign-born women better integrate with the society.
Giovanni Barbieri, Project Leader, CESIE, Italy, made an overview of the project PITCH.
Luca Barani, Policy officer, DG HOME C2 – Legal Pathways & Integration, informed about the Action Plan on Integration & Inclusion 2021-2027.
The PITCH White Paper, prepared by the UBC, presenting i.a. the PITCH model and its 5 phases, the challenges encountered during the implementation phase and their successful solutions, as well as recommendations how to adapt it to the local context, was introduced by Anna Sośnicka, UBC.
Begoña Duque Arroyo, INCOMA, Spain, presented PITCH by the Numbers – Measurable Impact Across Europe.
How to sustain Local Integration Strategies was discussed by Kyriaki Chatzipanagiotou, Center for Social Innovation (CSI), Cyprus.
The important part of the Conference were two panels.
In the first one the migrant women, the language and cultural mediators and trainers: Melinda Barish, Cyprus; Hoda Abbas, Sweden; Lyudmyla Cherkasova, Lithuania; Sara Ferreira Da Silva, Italy, Maria Zelenskova, Spain, shared their powerful stories from experiences from participating in the project implementation.
In the second panel, the future of PITCH and implementation of the Model in the different actions was discussed by Pantelis Georgiou, Mayor of the Municipality of Kourion, Cyprus, Eirini Kagiampini, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Neapolis-Sykeon, Greece, Monica Palazzo, Representative of the Area of Social Services and Activities in the Municipality of Palermo, Italy, Janina Torkar, Project Assistant, Municipality of Koper, Slovenia and Anna Sosnicka, UBC.
PITCH project is a 36-months project co-funded by the EU Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund. UBC is a project partner.
