On 24 June 2026, a political‑level meeting of the European Alliance of Cities and Regions for the Reconstruction of Ukraine took place at the European Solidarity Centre in Gdańsk, as part of the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026. The session was chaired by Antje Grotheer, Chair of the CoR Working Group on Ukraine.
Opening remarks were delivered by Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, Oleksii Riabykin, and Anna Jarosz‑Friis, who highlighted the crucial role of local and regional authorities in Ukraine’s reconstruction. Participants presented and endorsed the Joint Statement. Representatives from Germany, France, Poland, and Ukrainian associations of local and regional authorities shared their positions. A new call for reconstruction projects was launched for multilateral municipal partnerships involving at least two municipalities from the Weimar Triangle (France, Germany, Poland). Several impactful local and regional partnerships were showcased.
The meeting emphasized the growing importance of local and regional cooperation in rebuilding Ukraine and the need for coordinated action among European and Ukrainian partners. UBC Secretary General Paweł Żaboklicki informed about cooperation of Baltic Sea Region cities with Ukrainian cities within the UBC.
