Welcome to new UBC Member Cities: Gatchina, Haapsalu, Hamburg, Rokiškis, Rumia, Valmiera, Sejny

The UBC is excited to welcome new member cities of Gatchina, Haapsalu, Hamburg, Rokiškis, Rumia, Sejny, Valmiera to the Union.
 
– The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg shares the ambitions of the UBC to strengthen the relations between its member cities focusing on best practices to cope with urban challenges. Cities play an important role in developing smart and sustainable solutions in the fields of mobility and urban development, fighting climate change and dealing with the economic and social effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, states Almut Möller, State Secretary of Hamburg.

– Rokiškis is a vibrant and youthful city, which is proud to have preserved cultural heritage of several generations and to share it with dear guests. We hope that networking with other member cities will open door to gain valuable experience, provide technical consulting, joint coordination, training, information services to build capacity, share knowledge in professional development, projects and collaboration“, says Ramūnas Godeliauskas, Mayor of Rokiškis District Municipality.
 
– As a Mayor of beautiful thriving city I intend to bring no less than the best practices to our citizens, businesses and organisations, therefore I see this membership as tool to have and provide a strong support base for various brilliant ideas and development opportunities, says Jānis Baiks, Mayor of Vamiera city.
 
– UBC is changing and even in the times when we have a long lasting worldwide pandemia of virus Covid 19, the results we deliver makes our Baltic family to grow. We are very happy to welcome the cities of Haapsalu, Hamburg, Rokiškis and Valmiera to the UBC family. I am sure that by entering our 30th year with the bigger family we will deliver even more fruitful cooperation and exchange of opportunities, projects and best practises across the community with our new and current members, states President of the UBC Mantas Jurgutis.
 
The new member cities have been invited to present their cities in the next UBC Executive Board meeting to be held in spring 2021.
