Planning Cities Commission seminar in Riga

UBC Planning Cities Commission seminar will be held in Riga on 30.09 – 3.10.25.
The title of the seminar:
“NEW LIFE OF OLD PLACES – HISTORIC MARKETPLACE IN THE HISTORIC CENTRE OF RIGA”
The programme of the Seminar is packed with valuable lectures covering not only issues of UNESCO World Heritage Sites but also perception of public space from the perspective of social anthropology and reducing the impacts of climate change in the city.
It is a unique opportunity to experience the enjoyment of being in the very centre of Riga. During the workshop we will work in groups on creating urban concepts for enhancing the synergy between the Riga Central Market and the rest of the city, and, at the same time, we will be exchanging experiences and knowledge from our daily work for the UBC Cities. In the other cities in the Baltic Sea region we all are dealing with similar challenges of transforming historical sites and finding new functions for them. Together, we can achieve better results!
