Wutzrock Open Air
With musical performances from all kinds of different genres, between hip-hop, reggae and punk rock, Wutzrock Festival has long since established itself against many of the bigger names in the greater Hamburg area. The success is due to a number of factors: for starters, the festival’s location combines the proximity to the city with a feeling of absolute secludedness. There are few places close to the city that feel as remote and peaceful as the region by the Dove Elbe river. If you throw in the fact, that Wutzrock Festival is completely free of charge, and is financed only through drink sales, there’s really no reason not to pay a visit.
After all, Dove Elbe is among the best spots for wild swimming in Hamburg, so if you need a break from the busy festival, there’s always the cool refreshing river. Others prefer side events such as the children’s festival, political initiatives or games. Being free of charge doesn’t mean, however, that the festival’s lineup is second-rate. Acts like Fatoni, LeFly and Hamburg’s punk veterans Slime will have the crowds dancing, swaying, swinging, jumping and pogoing all weekend.
