Sustainable revitalisation of Turku areas

64 participants from 19 different BSR cities took part in the joint seminar “Revitalizing urban space connected to the Sea” which was held in Turku, Finland, on September 13th-15th, 2023.

The concept of planetary urban planning in which the boundaries of the planet’s life-supporting systems are taken equally into account with the boundaries of economy and society, became a reference point in rethinking five Turku neighborhoods into blue-green, inclusive and thriving public hubs. With this inspiration in mind, the participants headed for a guided site visit to look at the task areas and start the process of creative brainstorming.

The Seminar participants were also introduced to the next UBC Planning Cities Commission that will be held in Gdańsk in September 2024.

During the meeting the UBC Planning Cities Commission Steering Committee elected Paulina Szewczyk to continue as the Chairperson of the Commission and Mara Liepa-Zemesa to continue as the vice-chairperson, the Steering Committee stands as it is for the period 2023-2025.
